The Egyptian Football Association is preparing to officially announce the registration suspension Zamalek Club for an indefinite period. According to sports journalist Ahmed Abdelbaset, who specializes in football association news, the announcement of the punishment will be made later.
The registration suspension comes as a result of unpaid financial dues by Zamalek Club to Sporting Lisbon, related to the transfer deal of player Mahmoud Abdel Razek “Shikabala.” Earlier, regulations expert Amer Al-Amayra stated that the Football Association received a letter on May 1st, ordering the suspension of Zamalek’s registration until the outstanding amount is paid to Sporting Lisbon, with a 30-day deadline ending on May 31st.
However, Zamalek Club failed to settle the fine within the specified timeframe. This registration suspension can be avoided by making the payment or reaching an agreement with Sporting Lisbon to settle the amount.
According to the decision by CAS (Court of Arbitration for Sport), Zamalek is obligated to pay $1,455,465 to Sporting Lisbon, along with a contribution of 5,000 Swiss Francs towards legal expenses and a fine of 30,000 Swiss Francs imposed by FIFA.
It should be noted that the mentioned amount is subject to increase if the payment is not made or an agreement is not reached with Sporting Lisbon for settlement.
